Background: White-brined cheese is widely consumed and produced in the Mediterranean countries and Jordan. Traditionally, white-brined cheese produced from sheep&rsquo;s milk. The study aimed to examine the effect of storage duration and mixing different milk proportions and combinations of sheep&rsquo;s and goats milk on cheese yieldand texture profile of white-brined cheese.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: Jordanian WBC which is made by mixing different proportions from sheep&rsquo;s and goat&rsquo;s milk types then boiled for 15 min. Some characteristics such as texture profile&nbsp; and cheese yields were measured and evaluated. after storage for 12 months at room temperature.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 
Result: WBC made from sheep&rsquo;s milk or from mixtures of sheep&rsquo;s and goat&rsquo;s showed an increase in cheese yield by 11.07% and 5.59% for sheep&rsquo;s and sheep&rsquo;s \milk mixtures, respectively. The addition of goat&rsquo;s milk in a percentage &gt;25% to sheep&rsquo;s milk decreases cheese hardness and gumminess while adding goat&rsquo;s milk in a percentage of 25% causes a significant increase in cheese hardness, cohesiveness and gumminess. The increase in hardness for treatment 5 to 4801.2&plusmn;1463 gf compared with the control treatment 1 of 4111.4&plusmn;1401 gf. Storage of WBC increased hardness significantly (p&lt;0.05) after 12 months by 47.2% of WBC made from sheep&rsquo;s milk. The texture profile and cheese quality characteristics of White brined cheese are influenced by storage time and milk types.

Textural Profile Characterizations of White Brined Cheese Manufactured from Sheep&rsquo;s, Goat&rsquo;s or Combination Milk Mixtures

<div>Background: Foley&rsquo;s catheters are widely used for treating obstructive urolithiasis and are often associated with high rate of urinary tract infections. The urinary catheters act as a platform for colonization and biofilm formation by pathogens, leads to increasing the risk of catheter associated bacterial infections.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: The present study was aimed to address the antimicrobial activity and biofilm inhibition effect of silver Foley&rsquo;s catheter in male buffalo calves suffering from obstructive urolithiasis. The study was conducted on twelve male buffalo calves suffering from obstructive urolithiasis, randomly divided into two groups irrespective of their age viz., group I (latex Foley&rsquo;s catheter treatment) and group II (silver hydrogel coated Foley&rsquo;s catheter treatment). Cultural examination and antibiotic sensitivity of cultured bacteria from the urine passed through fixed urinary catheter was performed at 0th, 7th, 14th and 28th postoperative days in both the groups.&nbsp; 
 
Result: There was significant reduction in growth of bacteria like Streptococcus, Staphylococcus and E. coli bacterial colony formation on blood agar and MacConkey lactose agar, respectively in silver catheter group as compare to latex catheter group from day 0 to day 28th. The zone of inhibition was more pronounced for both antibiotics viz., Cefotaxime and Ceftriaxone (upto 24 mm) in urine samples collected from silver hydrogel coated Foley&rsquo;s catheter as compared to latex Foley&rsquo;s catheter indicating its biofilm inhibition effect on bacteria. Silver-hydrogel Foley&rsquo;s Catheter are more cost-effective as compare to latex Foley&rsquo;s catheter.</div>

Efficacy of Silver Coated Foley&rsquo;s Catheter in Comparison with Latex Foley&rsquo;s Catheter for Prevention of Antimicrobial Resistance and Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections in Obstructive Urolithiasis of Male Buffalo Calves

A study was conducted with graded levels of potassium and sulphur on pigeon pea to assess the nutrient uptake, yield and quality at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Nagpur (M.S.) The data revealed that application of K and S levels significantly influenced the uptake of major and micronutrient in pigeon pea. &nbsp;High N and P uptake was observed due to application of 30 kg potassium and 20 kg sulphur per hectare. &nbsp;Potassium uptake was increased significantly with increasing the levels of K. &nbsp;The highest K uptake was noticed in 45 kg K and 20 kg S per hectare combination. &nbsp;The recovery of NPK was higher in 30 kg potassium per hectare. Due to increased level of potassium and sulpur there was no adverse effect on calcium assimilation and highest uptake of calcium was observed in the application 30 kg K and 20 kg S per hectare. &nbsp;The optimum supply of K and S improves the uptake of micronutrients. &nbsp;Significantly high grain yield and protein yield was observed due to application 30 kg K and 20 kg S per hectare. &nbsp;Therefore balanced fertilization of NPKS nutrients is required in pigeon pea.&nbsp;

Effect of potassium and sulphur on nutrient uptake, yield&nbsp;and quality of Pigeon Pea (Cajanus cajan)

<div>Background: The excessive usage of chemical fertilizers and the negligence on soil health regarding the conservation and use of organic sources of nutrients have not only caused the exhaustion of soil nutrient reserves but also resulted in soil health problems which is not conducive to achieving consistent increase in agricultural production. The beneficial influence of organic matter on the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil is well known, the full appreciation of the same remains which is unfortunately ignored in modern agriculture. The regular recycling of organic wastes in the soil is the most efficient method of maintaining optimum nutrient reserves of soil and nutrient uptake by the plant. The Present Study was conducted to evaluate the nutrient status of soil under integrated usage of organic and inorganic sources. 
 
Methods: A field experiment entitled &ldquo;Nutrient Management Interventions in Rice-Ragi Sequence&rdquo; was conducted during kharif and rabi seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 on sandy loam soil of the Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla. The seven treatments consisted of T1: 100% RDF (100-60-40 kg N-P-K ha-1); T2: 100% RDF + Soil application of ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1; T3: 125% RDF+Soil application of ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1; T4: 75% RDF + Poultrymanure&nbsp; @ 0.82 t ha-1 + Soil application of ZnSO4 50 kg ha-1; T5: 75% RDF + FYM @ 5.0 t ha-1 + Soil application of ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1; T6:50% RDF + Poultrymanure @ 1.6 t ha-1 + Soil application of ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1 and T7: 50% RDF + FYM @ 10 t ha-1 + Soil application of ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1. The experiment was laidout in randomized block design with seven treatments and replicated thrice during kharif rice and in rabi each kharif treatment was subdivided into four sub treatments (S1: Nofertilizer, S2: 100% RDF, S3:75% RDF and S4:50% RDF) and hence, The split plot design was adopted in rabi. Total No.of plots per each replication in the rabi was 28 (7x4=28).&nbsp; 
 
Result: Nutrient content and uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and zinc have increased significantly with the fertility levels and organics. 50% RDF + FYM @ 10 t ha-1 + ZnSO4 @ 50 kg ha-1 recorded the highest nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and zinc contents and uptakes in grain and straw of rice. In no till rabi ragi, N, P, K, Zn and calcium content and uptake in grain and straw were found to be significantly superior with 100% RDF (S2) to the rest of the treatments in both the years and in pooled data.</div>

Effect of Nutrient Management Interventions on Nutrient Uptake of Rice-zero Till Ragi under Coastal Lands

<div>A field experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture (RVSKVV), Indore during kharif 2013 to study the effect of different sources of plant nutrients on productivity, profitability nutrient uptake and soil fertility of soybean in relation to eight nutrient management treatments (T1: RDF- recommended dose of fertilizer (N:P:K:S @ 30:60:30:30 kg/ha), T2: RDF + Rhizobium + PSB (20 g/kg seed), T3: RDF + 50 kg ZnSO4/ha + Rhizobium + PSB, T4: RDF + 1 g (NH4)2MoO4/kg seed + Rhizobium + PSB, T5: RDF + 5 kg Borax/ha + Rhizobium + PSB, T6: RDF + 10 kg FeSO4/ha + Rhizobium &nbsp;+ PSB, T7: RDF + 25 kg MnSO4/ha + Rhizobium + PSB and T8: RDF + FYM 5 t/ha + Rhizobium + PSB.). Highest seed yield (844 kg/ha) was obtained under T4, which was at par with T8. The maximum gross returns (`36,376/ha), net returns (`20,132/ha), B:C ratio (2.24), production efficiency (7.47 kg/ha/day) and economic efficiency (`178.16/ha) was also recorded under T4 treatment. Significantly higher nutrient uptake (52.50 and 22.79 kg N, 3.28 and 6.0 kg P, 17.84 and 24.79 kg K, 85.83 and 382.55 g Fe, 67.50 and 313.02 g Mn and 0.27 and 3.96 g Mo/ha by seed and stover, respectively) were obtained under T4. However, the highest uptake of Zn (41.39 and 40.55 g/ha by seed and stover, respectively) was recorded in T3 followed by T8. While the significantly higher uptake of B by seed and stover (24.17 and 40.80 g/ha) was recorded with the application of RDF + 5 kg Borax/ha + Rhizobium + PSB. Application of RDF + FYM 5 t/ha + Rhizobium + PSB (T8) significantly enhanced the available organic carbon (0.40%), N (174.0 kg/ha) and P2O5 (18.67 kg/ha) which was at par with T4. Higher Fe content in soil (4.81 mg/kg soil) was noted with T6, while maximum Mn (2.0 mg/kg soil) was found under T7. Maximum Zn content (0.56 mg/kg soil) was found with the application of T3, whereas, the maximum Mo content (0.048 mg/kg soil) was recorded in T4.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Influence of Different Sources of Plant Nutrients on Soil Fertility, Nutrient Uptake and Productivity of Soybean under Vertisols</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of Zypmite fertilizer along with di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) in study. The application of Zypmite exhibited in growth, yield, nutrients uptake and availability of nutrient in soil. Zypmite response, the maximum number of branches (25.8 p-1), test weight (18.5 gm) and grain yield (17.10 q ha-1) was observed with 50 kg P2O5 through DAP + 40 kg S through Zypmite (T6). The nitrogen (69.52 kg ha-1) and phosphorous (7.89 kg ha-1) uptake was also found maximum under T6 and minimum in control (T1). The potassium (39.27 kg ha-1) and sulphur (7.85 kg ha-1) uptake was observed maximum under 50 kg P2O5 through DAP + 20 kg S through Zypmite (T5). After harvesting of crop, available nutrient status was observed higher available nitrogen (243.0 kg ha-1) under T6 and available phosphorous was significantly higher in T2 and T9 (18.0 kg ha-1) as compared to control. Availability of potassium in all treatments was significantly not influenced during both years. The sulphur availability in soil was significantly influenced among treatment and found maximum (23.0 kg ha-1) under 40 kg sulphur through Zypmite (T7). It was observed that Zypmite and chemical fertilizers, enhanced yield and higher uptake of nutrient as well as improved soil fertility. &nbsp;</div>

Influence of zypmite on productivity and nutrient uptake of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) crop under rainfed condition Chhattisgarh plain region

Field experiments were conducted during pre kharif 2010, 2011 and 2012 to study the effects of phosphorus and sulphur on yield parameters, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake of green gram. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications having eight treatment combinations viz. four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha-1) as factor A and two levels of phosphorous (30 and 60 kg ha-1) as factor B. Experimental results revealed that yield attributing characters and seed yield of green gram were significantly influenced by phosphorus, sulphur and interaction effects of these two factors. Application of higher dose of phosphorus (60 kg ha-1) and &nbsp;increasing levels of sulphur up to 40 kg ha-1proved to be the &nbsp;best in improving the yield attributing characters and &nbsp;seed yield (1.62t ha-1)of green gram. Sulphur applied beyond 40 kg ha-1could not increase the parameters further. Application of sulphur 20 kg ha-1 significantly increased the active nodule no. and nodule dry weight of green gram and there after applied S beyond 20 kg ha-1the mean nodule production reached a more or less plateau pattern and application of lower dose of phosphorus without sulphur drastically reduced the nodule dry weight. Interaction of higher dose of phosphorus and higher dose S found to have a negative impact on yield. Application of varying levels of phosphorus and sulphur significantly improved the nutrient uptake by green gram in a sulphur deficient soil. &nbsp;Sulphur acted synergistically with nitrogen and increased the uptake of other nutrients. Application of 60 kg P205 ha-1 and 40 kg Sha-1 proved to be most economic in green gram with NPV 4.59.

Effect of phosphorus and sulphur on yield attributes, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake of green gram [Vigna radiate (L.) wilczek]

<div style="text-align: justify;">An experiment conducted during 2011-12 and 2012-13 under the ongoing All India Coordinated Research Project on Long-Term Fertilizer Experiment with soybean-safflower cropping sequence in Vertisol (Typic haplusterts) that commenced form 2006-07 at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (M.S.) showed that the nutrients availability in soil, nutrient uptake, yield attributes and yield of soybean were significantly influenced by FYM along with 100% NPK application. The results revealed that the pods per plant (48.65), plant height (49.77 cm plant-1), grain (26.97 q ha-1) and straw (24.65 q ha-1) yield of soybean were significantly increased with 100% NPK+FYM@ 5 Mg ha-1. Conjoint use of FYM with 100% NPK improved the soil properties with respect to bulk density, organic carbon, exchangeable (Ca, Mg, Na &amp; K), cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation (BS), available N, P, K, S, Zn and Fe over initial value of soil. However, a significant buildup of available Zn due to the application of zinc sulphate along with 100% NPK as compared to all other treatments. N, P, K, S, Zn and Fe uptake of soybean were increased significantly with the application of 100 % NPK+FYM@ 5 Mg ha 1 than other treatment. It can be concluded from these experiment that the balanced use of fertilizers continuously either alone or in combination with organic manure is necessary for sustaining soil fertility and productivity of crop.</div>

<div>Impact of Long-term fertilizer application on soil fertility, nutrient&nbsp;uptake, growth and productivity of soybean under soybean-safflower&nbsp;cropping sequence in Vertisol</div>

<div>Background: Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oilseed and an important food crop of the world, ranking in 4th place as an important source of edible oil and as an important source of vegetable protein in 3rd place. However, the preferred pH for growing of groundnut is a pH of (6.5-7) which is slightly acidic or neutral. So for the crop to grow in a favorable soil pH, liming is required. Groundnut being an oilseed crop requires fertilization for high crop production. The farmers though aware of the fertilization in crops, are confined mostly in NPK fertilizers and negligence especially in sulphur fertilizer is common, however sulphur in oilseed crop is one of the key elements required to produce protein, oil and flavored compounds as well as to ensure quality.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: A field experiment was conducted in the Experimental Research Farm of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University during the kharif season 2018 entitled &ldquo;Effect of lime and levels of sulphur in nutrient content and uptake by Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)&rdquo;. The experimental design was split plot design with three replications. The main plot treatments consisted of two lime levels: L0: lime @ 0 t ha-1, L1: lime @ 3 t ha-1 and the sub- plot treatments consisted of five sulphur levels: S0: sulphur @ 0 kg ha-1, S1: sulphur @ 10 kg ha-1, S2: sulphur @ 20 kg ha-1, S3: sulphur @ 30 kg ha-1, S4: sulphur @ 40 kg ha-1.&nbsp; 
 
Result: The study showed that application of lime and sulphur, along with recommended dose of fertilizer NPK (20:60:40) showed increased yield and an increase in N, P, K and S content in groundnut, resulting in a significant increase in the uptake of N, P, K and S by plant.</div>

Groundnut Response to Lime and Levels of Sulphur on Nutrient Content and Uptake

<div>Background:&nbsp;Weeds are the major biological constraint in okra due to its slow initial growth and wider row spacing. Due to severe crop weed competition, weeds removed considerable amount of nutrients from the soil. Competition exists between the crop and weed for nutrients results in nutrient deficiencies in crop. Hence the present experiment is formulated to assess the effect of stale seedbed, mulching and mechanical weeding on nutrient availability, nutrient uptake by crop and weed in okra. 
 
Methods: Experiment was conducted at Coconut Research Station, Balaramapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala during Rabi 2020-21. Design adopted for the study was RBD with two factors. The first factor was seedbed preparation (S) and the second factor was weed management (W). Stale seedbed (S1) and normal seedbed (S2) were the two different seedbed preparation methods and dried banana leaf mulch @10 t ha-1 alone (W1), dried banana leaf mulch @10 t ha-1 fb wheel hoe weeding at 30 and 45 DAS (W2), dried banana leaf mulch @10 t ha-1 fb hand weeding at 30 and 45 DAS (W3), wheel hoe weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAS (W4), hand weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAS (W5) and weedy check (W6) were the six different weed management options tried. Soil samples were collected after the harvest of the crop to determine the nutrient availability. Weed samples at 30 and 60 DAS and plant samples at harvest were analyzed to determine the NPK content and respective uptake of nutrients were calculated by multiplying the nutrient content with DMP. 
 
Result: Stale seedbed significantly enhanced the dry matter production and nutrient uptake by okra at harvest and lowered the nutrient removal by weeds at 30 and 60 DAS. Compared to non-stale, stale seedbed recorded significantly higher fruit yield. Among the weed management, wheel hoe weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAS, recorded the lowest total weed dry weight at 30 and 60 DAS and resulted in the highest NPK uptake by crop and fruit yield. Uncontrolled weed growth resulted in a loss of 81.33, 18.16 and 50.84 kg N:P:K ha-1&nbsp;at 30 DAS and 102.09, 57.90 and 55.31 kg N:P:K ha-1 at 60 DAS, respectively. Nutrient removal by weeds was the lowest in wheel hoe weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAS and the highest in weedy check. It could be concluded that, wheel hoe weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAS was the best option for the management of weeds, higher nutrient availability and uptake and yield in okra.</div>
