The study was carried purposively in selected Senapati district of hill region of Manipur state. Data were collected from randomly selected 120 dairy farmers through personal interview with the help of pre-tested structured schedule from two blocks selected randomly. An adoption index specifically for this region was developed covering all aspects of Improved Dairy Husbandry Practices (IDHPs). The weightage of practices was decided by the judges rating method. It was found that most of the respondents had low level of adoption IDHP’s in breeding (44.17%) and feeding (50.00%) whereas, majority of dairy farmers in management (54.17%), healthcare (60.83%) and marketing (40.83%) had medium level of adoption. Further Path analysis ascertained that to increase the adoption of IDHPs in the study area, strengthening of dairy farmers’ education and social participation were strongly recommended.
