There can be several definitions for the word “Author” or “Authorship”. Some of them can define it comprehensively and others can make it brief to understand easily. At ARCC journal, it is understood that a person who takes complete or partial responsibility for the work that he has done to submit the papers and has made honest efforts in collecting data for the same is awarded the title of Author or co-author. Devoid of any intellectual contribution in collecting text, manuscripts, papers, or research works, fails the person to be awarded the title of an author or co-author.

The person who has made a substantial contribution to the designing concept, collecting authentic data from various sources, analyzing and interpreting it in a well-defined manner can be the author. He is entitled to ensure that all the processes from the submission of the papers to the final approval from the editor. He is required to hold the responsibility that the data which has been submitted to the editor-in-chief bears his written acknowledgment of the acceptance of all the intellectual property.

It is also the author’s responsibility to timely inform the editor if there is an authorship conflict in the research papers. ARCC welcome settling any kind of dispute or conflict with the mutual understanding of the authors and co-authors as ARCC journals hold no accountability to nominate the authorship when it is not timely and transparently addressed.

Authors play a crucial role in upholding the ethical standards of publication in ARCC Journals. They are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their research work. Authors should adhere to the following ethical standards:

Originality: Authors should ensure that their research work is original and has not been published previously. They should also cite all sources of information and ideas used in their research work.

Plagiarism: Authors should avoid all forms of plagiarism, including copying, paraphrasing, or using ideas from other sources without proper citation. They should also use plagiarism detection software to check their work for any instances of plagiarism.

Authorship: Authors should ensure that all individuals who have made significant contributions to their research work are included as co-authors. They should also ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.

Conflict of Interest: Authors should declare any conflicts of interest that may influence their research work or its interpretation. There can be many types of conflicts of interest in the journal publication. It can take place among the authors, the reviewer, and the editors but it is a necessity, even in any organization, to address it distinctly in the journal publication so that it can be timely resolved. At times, these conflicts can occur due to financial interests like funds for staff, funds for research, consultation fee, patent interest, etc.if the author has any such affair, he is required to address it within the time frame.

Some conflicts can be owing to the pursuit of intellectual knowledge grounds. There can be a chance of competition or a close relationship with any of the members of the reviewer or editor. This may influence the publication of the manuscript. Therefore, it is the liability of the author to inform the ARCC journals in time.

Data sharing: Authors should share their data with other researchers upon request. Data should be made available in a format that is easily accessible and understandable.

Data integrity: Authors should ensure the accuracy and integrity of their data. Any errors or inaccuracies should be corrected in a timely manner.

Data privacy and security: Researchers should protect the privacy and security of research participants' data and should comply with relevant data protection regulations.

Protocol: One of the major obligations of the authors is to follow the protocol. Without accomplishing so, it becomes hard for all colleagues to carry out scholarly tasks on time. Every member should adhere to the charges and obligations in the pursuit to accomplish scientific works properly. The protocol also defines to the exploitation of the scientific knowledge of every division of the unit and any avoidance and reluctance in sharing the knowledge can be deemed worthy of saying negligence of the protocol.

Authenticity: An author has the responsibility to validate the authenticity of his works. The editor, the reviewer, the readers, and the publishers have the right to anticipate that the presented works of scientific intellect do not violate any protocol of ethical publishing. The research papers are not submitted by evading plagiarism, fabrication of the facts, and duplication of data. He is also bound to ensure that the statement of acceptance of the submitted papers bears authentic proof with the proper undertaking of the research papers.

Professionalism: The author is required to follow professional guidelines. He is required to follow the proper hierarchy until the final journal is not released. Sometimes the deadlines are required to be met therefore it is suggested to the authors to be professional to follow the deadlines in the submission of additional papers. Communication is the key to addressing findings or errors. It is required for the author to address everything professionally in an official language.

Funding Information: The author is bound to provide the publisher with the proper funding information about the research papers. Any direct or indirect engagement of the funder in the project is required to be informed by the author.

The author has major responsibilities towards the editor as he works closely with him until the final composition of the article comes into a final shape.

He makes the very first interaction with the editor after the submission of the articles. To accept or reject the papers is the sole will of the editor. The author is required to respond to the editor as soon as possible to submit some supplementary papers or proofs. He is subjected to submit all the necessary documents when demanded by the reviewers. In case of conflict of interest, he needs to address to the editor.

The author is required to give proper information about the previous publication that he has done in the past. It is required to be ensured from his behalf that he should furnish valid records to validate that no previous publication has been made in another journal of the research papers that he is submitting at present. If a small contribution from the same research paper is made in any other small journals, he is qualified to inform the editor beforehand.

A conflict of authorship for the article may also arise and it can happen because of different reasons. Some of them are dual authorship, multi-authorship, group authorship, etc.

A conflict can arise at any time before or during the submission of the article and it is the sole responsibility of the authors to resolve it.

The journal editor is not responsible for any mediation or participation in resolving the conflict and also not for determining who qualifies for authorship and who doesn’t. Therefore, all the authors are requested to give a signed statement for the enlistment of authors.

When authorship disputes arise post-publication, nearly all guidelines suggest that the authors solve the disputes between themselves.

But it happens rarely as there is a huge difference of power between institutions, and team members such as funding agencies, and universities and they are unlikely to have any power over all team members.

Other disciplines that take care of collaborative creator credit could provide models for scientific authorship.

Mediation or arbitration could provide a solution to disputes in the absence of any effective solution. As authors capitalize on the journals’ authority to make decisions regarding the submitted manuscripts, the journals are in a great position to facilitate a suitable dispute-resolution method.
