The study entitled “Female child labour in domestic work” was under taken to study the working, pattern and problems faced by female child labour and economic contribution made by them to the family. A sample of 120 female labour from urban area and rural area of Ludhiana district, Punjab was taken for the purpose. Majority of the female children started working at the age of 9–11 years and were mostly illiterate. These children were engaged in varied household activities. Most of them were working on part time basis and spent on average 5.08 hours/day out for work. The female children working in urban area and rural area contributed Rs.501.6 and Rs.395.8 per month towards family income. The commonly faced problems by these children were long working hours, deprived of entertainment, underpaid and underfed.
