The level of subordinates performance is influenced greatly by the leadership behaviour of their respective higher level officers. In State Department of Agriculture where a prominent hierarchy is prevailing, the leadership styles of the Agriculture Development Offices (ADOs) must have Significant contribution towards job performance of the Krishi Prayukti Sahayaks (KPSs) who are the grass root level extension functionaries in the state of West Bengal. The present study aimed to find out the relationship of leadership style of the ADOs and its impact on the job performance of the KPSs. It was observed that level of job performance of the KPSs is highest among those who are working under autocratic type of leadership. This might be due to the fact that close, strict, and specified supervision, particularly at lower level, increase job performance.
