The present study impact of home environment in behavioral characteristics of rural male members was conducted in two villages of Punjab i.e. Pohir, Momnabad. The specific objectives of the study were: to determine the various types of behavioral characteristics and factors associated with the same and the impact of home environment on them. The study revealed that rural families including husbands and fathers-in-law indulged in multifarious behavioral characteristics viz. drinking, drug abuse, smoking, playing cards, late night arrivals, watching late night movies and overspending on guests/outsiders etc. The factors responsible for the involvement of family members in there ill-habits were: to get rid of despair and tiredness, for company sake, to avoid boredom and stress of life, to escape from tensed home environment. The ill-effects of there ill-habits included increased tension, depression and unhappiness among the family members.
