Storage of kitchen equipments in rural and urban homes was measured by taking sample of sixty families viz., 30 rural and 30 urban. Results of the study showed that low cost devices were possessed by both rural and urban homemakers, whereas high cost electrical devices were possessed only by the urban families. The average distance traveled from the place of storage of equipment to the work counters was found significantly more in the rural homes as compared to urban homes. In rural homes, most of the equipment were placed out of the reach of rural home makers, thus making them uncomfortable and stressful while using the same in the kitchen work. It was therefore recommended that storage place of rural kitchen should be improved to reduce the stress and fatigue of rural homemakers while performing the kitchen work.
