Dairy Cooperatives had a major role in the white revolution in India. Dairy Cooperatives are expected to develop backward, forward and horizontal integration and increase the income of the milk producers through rationalization of cost and through undertaking value addition function. Post APMACS Act 1995, 9 districts in Andhra Pradesh opted for APMACS, leading to loss of additional income of the farmers of AP of about Rs.1200 Crores in last 10 years. Government’s recent move for an Act to enhance its control over the cooperative dairies led the later to think of ways to protect themselves.
