The study conducted on 55 khoa producing areas from 11 talukas of Beed district,
during 2007-08 using multi stage stratified random sampling technique,findings revealed that,
on an average, Rs. 2720 was required to set up a unit. The study further revealed that cost of
production of khoa varies according to area of milk production and geographical situation. The
study further revealed that even having profit margin in fluid milk production,due to lack of milk
collection centers, lack of chilling facilities and transportation facilities, milk producers in some
area converts their milk in to khoa as there is market for khoa than milk.
