<div>Background: Alfalfa has small seeds and is intolerant to deep-sowing. We investigated seed emergence of alfalfa variety &ldquo;Longmu 801&rdquo; from deep-sowing and its quality improvement through different bio-fertilizer treatments.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: Seven fertilization treatments were tested: CK: no fertilization (control), A: amino acid fertilizer, B: amino acid fertilizer + selenium-rich yeast fertilizer diluent, C: amino acid fertilizer + selenium-rich yeast fertilizer dilution + microbial agent, D: amino acid fertilizer + algae extract, E: amino acid fertilizer + microbial agent and F: amino acid fertilizer + selenium-rich yeast fertilizer diluent + microbial agent + algae extract. 
 
Result: The bio-fertilizer treatments improved the alfalfa seedling emergence, growth and quality. Treatment E increased the emergence rate, plant height and yield by 10.6%, 41.0% and 68.9%, respectively; decreased the stem-leaf ratio, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber by 41.7%, 3.7% and 3.17%, respectively and increased crude protein, crude fat and relative feeding value by 2.5%, 0.5% and 8.6%, respectively; compared with that of the control. Soaking alfalfa seeds in 0.2% amino acid fertilizer and applying 13.5 g microbial agent was suggested as the most efficient fertilization technique to promote alfalfa emergence, growth and quality and provide profits to farmers due to its low cost.</div>

Effects of Different Bio-fertilizer Treatments on the Growth and Quality of Alfalfa

<div>Background: Potassium is one of the essential nutrients for optimal plant growth and development, related to higher yield and improved crop quality. Split potassium fertilization achieved maximum nutrient efficiency and improved the available potassium status in the root zone. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the split potassium application affects the mineral content and the quality parameters of various tomato cultivars. 
 
Methods: A pot experiment was undertaken to investigate the impact of single dose and split potassium fertilization treatments on nutrient content and quality traits of tomato fruits. Seven high yielding, early and mid-early tomato cultivars and hybrids were planted on Fluvisol and subjected to separate single dose and split potassium fertilization treatments (1. N200+200&ETH;300&Ecirc;450; 2. N200+200&ETH;300&Ecirc;225+225) as K2SO4, at constant nitrogen (NH4NO3) and phosphorus (Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O) fertilization rates. 
 
Result: Results revealed that mineral content in tomato fruits was significantly affected by cultivar, while the potassium fertilization type did not have a statistically proven effect. Positive relationships between potassium content and lycopene and sugars in tomato fruits were present. Highest mineral content was measured in fruits of &ldquo;Sheena F1&rdquo; and &ldquo;Nikolina F1&rdquo;, which also stand out with high biochemical attributes &ndash; lycopene, ascorbic acids, sugars and dry matter content. All tested biochemical parameters defining tomato fruit quality (except for acidity) were significantly affected by split potassium fertilization treatments.</div>

<div>Mineral Content and Quality Parameters of Tomato Fruits as Affected by Different Potassium Fertilization Treatments and Cultivar Specifics</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">The results of this experiment showed the effect of barley seeds pre-treatments and organo-mineral fertilizer on the morpho-physiological evaluation of seedlings, seed quality and productivity of spring barley (Mikhailovsky). Variance analysis results (ANOVA) showed extremely significant (p&lt;0.05) variations between different treatments in all traits, where the treatments led to increasing the germination energy, laboratory germination, growth force and weight of 100 sprouts compared with control. There was a positive effect on the development of the barley root system. &nbsp;Pre-treatment of seeds in wet years have been proven to be the most effective, while the efficiency of seed treatment pre-sowing decreased when soil moisture was low. Therefore, in 2017 barley productivity increased when the seeds were treated with a mixture of Polaris with Siliplant by 25% compared to control, while in 2018 the yield increased (7.1%) when mixture of Siliplant with Polaris was applied compared to control.&nbsp;</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">Impact of Seed Treatments Pre-sowing and Organo-mineral Fertilizer on Spring Barley Production</div>

<div>Background: Reproductive pattern of dog is quite different from other mammalian species. A major difference between canine and other mammalian species is that in dog oestrus period is followed by long inter-oestrus interval (period of sexual quiescence), described as monocyclic animal. There are several reproductive problems encountered by the dog breeders and pet owners causing prolonged whelping interval. Anoestrus is thought to be one of the undiagnosed ovarian disorders responsible for prolonged oestrus interval in canine. Anoestrus of variable duration (2 to 10 months) following each oestrus cycle in female dogs is frequently observed. The approaches for the management of reproductive problems due to ovarian disorders encountered by the dog breeders and pet owners needs to be explored to optimize whelping interval. Hence, the current study aimed to study the Induction of oestrus and fertility response using bromocriptine, cabergoline and eCG plus hCG treatment protocols in female dogs. 
 
Methods: The study was conducted in 28 apparently healthy female dogs at TVCC college of veterinary science and Animal Husbandry Jabalpur and at door step of pet owners or dog breeders during the period of 2018-19. Dogs used in the study were divided into small, medium and large breeds. Pomeranian and Pug breeds included under small breeds; German shepherd, Labrador, Siberian husky, Dalmatian, ND and Doberman under medium breeds whereas Great dane, Rottweiler, Bullmastiff and Saint Bernard included under large breeds. The animals were selected irrespective of breeds with the history of anoestrus up to two month or more after whelping. The selection of anoestrus dog was made based on the ratio of cells in vaginal cytology and serum progesterone estimation. 
 
Result: Our results &nbsp;shows that the oestrus and fertility response following hormonal treatments in anestrous female dogs was significantly (p&lt;0.01) higher than the oestrus induction in all treatment groups (71.48% in Group-I, 85.70% in Group-II and 71.48% in Group-III) as compared to control (14.28%).The breeding was recorded in 83.33% of dogs in cabergoline treatment followed by 100% in eCG plus hCG and 80% in bromocriptine with the conception rates of 100%, 80% and 75%, respectively in three groups. Serum progesterone (P4) profile were statistically significant (P&lt;0.05) in all the treatment groups (I, II and III), but not in control group and the exflotive veginal cytology were found significantly (P&lt;0.05) higher in induced than the non-induced animals of same group.</div>

<div style="text-align:justify">Induction of Oestrus and Fertility Response using Bromocriptine, Cabergoline and eCG Plus hCG Treatment Protocols in Female Dogs</div>

The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of different soil compaction levels (non-compacted control, low compaction, high compaction), irrigation management practices (conventional furrow and alternate furrow) and nitrogenous fertilizer levels (60, 90, 120 kg ha-1) on vegetative characteristics (dry biomass production, plant height, number of branch and number of pod per plant, height of the first pod, leaf area index, stem diameter), physiological characteristics (leaf relative water content, leaf chlorophyll content and leaf temperature) and root development through 0 - 80 cm soil profile of soybean grown in Harran Plain of Turkey. Experiments were conducted in Sanliurfa Province of Turkey in split-split plots experimental design with 3 replications during the years of 2006 and 2007. Irrigation program was created by using KanSched simulation model. The amount of applied irrigation water in conventional and alternate furrow systems in 2006 and 2007 were measured as 435.61 and 291.59 mm, and 429.51 and 271.72 mm, respectively. While the highest yield (947.8 kg ha-1) was observed in control treatment of the year 2006, conventional furrow system had the highest yield (2099.3 kg ha-1) in the year 2007. Soil compaction, irrigation and nitrogenous fertilization in general had significant effects on entire vegetative characteristics investigated in the present study. Increasing compaction levels yielded decreasing plant height, stem diameter and leaf area indexes. Biomass production increased with increasing nitrogen doses. Results indicated that negative impacts of soil compaction in agricultural fields due to traffic and various other reasons could be eliminated with proper irrigation and fertilization implementations.&nbsp;

Effects of irrigation, soil compaction and fertilization treatments on physiological &ndash; vegetative characteristics and root development of soybean&nbsp;

<div>Background: Foxtail millet is considered as nutri-cereal and source of food, feed and fodder. Though it is grown in marginal conditions it can give the best production with the proper nutrient management for its cultivation. The objective of study was to identify the suitable seed quality enhancement method to increase grain yield of foxtail millet. 
 
Methods: During kharif 2017 and 2018 on black cotton soils at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Nandyal, the experiment was conducted in field and laboratory with split plot design with four nitrogen doses as main plots such as N1- control, N2- 125 kg neem+1250 kg vermi compost /ha, N3- 50 kg urea+50 kg super phosphate and 50 kg murate of potash /ha + top dressing urea at 3-4 weeks after transplanting + 2% borax spray, N4- N2 + N3 and four pre sowing seed treatments as sub plots. The treatments were P1- control, P2- soaking in water for 8 hours by adopting seed to solution of 1:1 ratio,P3-seed soaking with 2% KH2PO4 for 8 hours by adopting seed to solution of 1:1 ratio, P4-seed treatment with 20% liquid Pseudomonas fluorescens. After pre sowing seed treatment, seed were sown in field with different nitrogen doses.&nbsp; 
 
Result: Results revealed that application of 50 kg urea+ 50 kg super phosphate and 50 kg murate of potash/ha + top dressing urea at 3-4 weeks after transplanting + 2% borax spray recorded significantly higher seed yield (3148 kg/ha) and in pre sowing seed treatment with 20% liquid Pseudomonas fluorescens (3019 kg/ha) than other treatments.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Effect of Nitrogen Fertilizer Doses and Pre Sowing Seed Treatments on Yield and Yield Attributing Characters in Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica L. Beauv)</div>

<div>Background: A two-year field study was carried out during the Kharif seasons of 2023 and 2024 at the Institutional farm of ANDUAT Kumarganj in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The research aimed to assess the effects of seed biopriming and foliar application using biocontrol agents and liquid biofertilizers on the growth and yield of Moong bean. 
&nbsp; 
Methods: Seed biopriming typically involves the application of beneficial microorganisms to enhance germination potential. The present investigation was carried out on two varieties of green gram i.e., NDM-1 (Collect from ANDUAT, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, U.P) and Sikha (collect from IIPR, Kanpur, U.P) and seed biopriming with two different biocontrol agents (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma viridae) used in different concentration and two different liquid biofertilizers (Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria @20% respectively.) following Randomised block design with three replication. The experiment comprised of sixteen biopriming along with hydropriming and control. Seed had been treated with control (T0), seeds soaked in distil water/hydropriming (T1); PF @ 25% (T2); PF @ 50% (T3); PF @ 75% (T4); TV @ 25% (T5); TV @ 50% (T6); TV @75% (T7); liquid ASP @ 20%(T8); liquid PB @ 20% (T9); T2&nbsp;+ foliar spray of PF @ 2 g/l (T10); T3&nbsp;+&nbsp; foliar spray of PF @ 2 g/l&nbsp; of water (T11); T4 + foliar spray of PF @ 2 g/l of water (T12);&nbsp; T5&nbsp;+ foliar spray of TV @ 2 g/l of water (T13);&nbsp; T6&nbsp;+ foliar spray of TV @ 2 g/l of water (T14); T7&nbsp;+ foliar spray of TV @ 2 g/l of water (T15); T8&nbsp;+ foliar spray of ASP @ 2 g/l of water (T16); T9&nbsp;+ foliar spray of PB @ 2 g/l of water (T17).

Result: Seed bio primed with pseudomonas fluorescens @ 75% (T4) was found very effective in both Kharif&nbsp; season (2023 and 2024), which enhance the Plant height, No. of branches/plant, No. of pods/plant, seed yield and its attributes .The seed yield/plant for this treatment was 4.46 gm and 4.03 gm respectively&nbsp; followed by seed biopriming with pseudomonas fluorescens @50% + foliar application of pseudomonas fluorescens @ 2 g/l&nbsp; of water (T10) on 30 and 45 DAS&nbsp; in both kharif season as compared to non-primed seed 1.73 gm and 1.99 gm respectively.</div>

Effects of Seed Treatment and Foliar Application by using Biological Control Agents and Liquid Organic Fertilizers on Development and Yield on Moong Bean (Vigna radiata L.)

Background: The integration of green manuring and nitrogen fertilization is a sustainable approach to enhance soil fertility and improve crop quality. Specifically, in crops like Basmati rice, these practices are known to influence critical parameters such as protein content and the availability of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. This study aims to evaluate the effects of various green manuring crops and nitrogen application levels on both soil nutrient status and grain quality of Basmati rice. 
&nbsp; 
Methods: The experiment was conducted during the 2023 kharif season at the Agricultural Research Farm of Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, using a split-plot design. Four main plots were used: M0&nbsp;(Control, no green manuring), M1&nbsp;(Sesbania aculeata), M2&nbsp;(Crotalaria juncea) and M3&nbsp;(Vigna unguiculata), along with four nitrogen levels as sub-plots: N1&nbsp;(0 kg ha-1), N2&nbsp;(15 kg ha-1), N3&nbsp;(30 kg ha-1) and N4&nbsp;(45 kg ha-1). Key parameters such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium availability in the soil, alongside protein, nitrogen content in the rice grains, were assessed to figure out the impact of these treatments. 
&nbsp; 
Result: The application of green manures, particularly in Sesbania aculeata (M1), resulted in significant improvements in both the protein content of Basmati rice grains and the availability of essential nutrients in the soil. The treatments involving Vigna unguiculata (M3) and Crotalaria juncea (M2) also had positive effects, through to a lesser degree. Among the nitrogen levels, the highest protein content and nutrient availability were observed at 45 kg ha-1&nbsp;nitrogen application followed by 30 kg ha-1&nbsp;(N3), 15 kg ha-1&nbsp;(N2), whereas the control treatment with 0 kg ha-1&nbsp;(N1), with no nutrient input, exhibited the lowest values. These findings underline the critical role of integrating green manuring and nitrogen fertilization to enhance both soil fertility and basmati rice quality.

Synergistic Effects of Green Manuring and Nitrogen Fertilization on Soil Fertility and Grain Quality of Basmati Rice

<div>Background: Fertilizer use efficiency is the output of any crop per unit of the nutrient applied under a specified set of soil and climatic conditions and slow/ ccontrolled release fertilizer formulations offer agricultural producers the opportunity to increase fertilizer/nutrient use efficiency, especially in soils with very low cation exchange capacity.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: In pot culture study, fertilizer-manure blocks consisting of selected proportions of different organic manures and fertilizers were prepared in two dimensions (100 g and 25 g) with three different dosages of fertilizers (100% POP, 50% POP, 25% POP) and were evaluated in a pot culture experiment using Okra variety Arka Anamika.&nbsp; 
 
Result: Fertilizer-manure blocks showed significant effect on growth and yield of okra. The use of fertilizer-manure blocks of proportion; Coirpith-35%, Cowdung-25%, Vermicompost-13%, Groundnutcake-10%, Neem cake 10%, Zeolite-2%, Humic acid-5%, 100 g size containing 25% of the recommended dose of nutrients placed 5cm below the level of planting and top dressing of 50% of KAU POP&nbsp; recommendation was identified as the best treatment (B:C ratio-1.26 and nutrient use efficiency-28.12) for enhancing the productivity of okra in grow bags. Days to flowering, number of fruits per plant, fruit yield per plant, length of fruits, girth of fruits and number of seeds per fruit were significantly influenced by the treatments. The selected treatment had recorded highest value for number of fruits per plant (20.70), fruit yield per plant (457.9 g), fruit length(17.90 cm), fruit girth (6.326 cm) as well as number of seeds per fruit (58.67). The general application of the recommended fertilizers and soil test based recommendation were found to be on par with the placement of slow release fertilizer- manure blocks with respect to fruit yield per plant.&nbsp;</div>

Evaluation of Fertilizer-manure Blocks as a Slow Release Fertilizer Formulation for Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]

<div style="text-align: justify;">A field experiment was carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Vizianagaram, during Kharif, 2016 under rainfed conditions to know the fertilizer responsiveness of promising finger millet varieties to graded doses of NPK fertilizers. Twenty treatment combinations were tested in split- plot design with three replications. Experimental results revealed that with 125% RDF grain yield increase was 10%, 27% and 48% higher than 100% RDF, 75% RDF and 50% RDF respectively. Among the finger millet genotypes, grain yield of VL-379(2037 kg/ha) and VL-352(1989 kg/ha) was significantly high and was at par with national check variety VR-708(1959 kg/ha). Both the test varieties (VL-379 and VL-352) were far superior to local check variety in terms of growth and yield characteristics. Higher net monetary returns and B:C ratio were obtained with VL-379, followed by VR-708 and VL-352 at 125% RDF.</div>
