<div style="text-align: justify;">Genotype x environment interaction in pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br.] was studied for grain yield by growing 57 genotypes consisting of 54 hybrids along with three standard checks in RBD with three replications under three different environments created by different irrigation numbers (E1, E2 and E3) with recommended dose of fertilizers during Kharif, 2015 at Agriculture Research Station farm, ARS Beechhwal, Bikaner. The nature and extent of genotype (g) x environment (e) interactions were studied. The joint regression analysis indicated the importance of unpredictable components along with predictable components of G x E interaction. Among the crosses RMS 6A x BIB-27 and ICMA 04999 x BIB-15 had higher grain yield per plant and showed stability for better management conditions and poor management conditions, respectively.&nbsp;</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications during rabi 2013-14 at All India Co-Ordinated Sorghum Improvement Project, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist. Ahmednagar (M.S.). Total seven sowing dates (E1-15th August, E2-15 September, E3-15 October, E4-15 November, E5-15 December, E6- 15 January and E7- 15 February) were assigned to the main plot and 16 parental and hybrid lines having four male sterile lines (viz., 104A, 185A, RMS 2010-24A and RMS2010-10A), four maintainer lines (viz., 104B, 185B, RMS2010-24B and RMS2010-10B), four restorer (viz., SPV1830, RSV1130, RSV1098 and BJV116) and their four respective hybrids (viz., 104A x SPV1830, 185A x RSV1130, RMS2010-24A x RSV1098 and RMS2010-10A x BJV116) were assigned to the sub plot treatment. The observations on growth, phenology, physiology and dry matter production were recorded during crop growth period, also, the data on seed set, grain yield and yield contributing characters were recorded at harvest stage. The seed setting percentage in selfed condition was recorded to be higher in September sowing environment followed by October sowing while, in case of the parental lines restorer lines SPV1830, RSV1130, RSV1098 and hybrid RMS2010-24A X RSV1098 recoded the higher seed setting percentage in all the environments and among all the genotypes, &nbsp;indicating their thermo-insensitivity for all the seasons which were considered to be promising genotypes for further breeding programme for yield improvement.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">Effect of Photo-Thermo Period on Seed Setting Percentage (In Selfed Earheads) of the Parental and Hybrid Lines of <em>Rabi </em>Sorghum</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">In this study, we investigated impact of single factor: solvent concentration ethanol, solvent pH, ultrasound time, solvent ratio: raw material and ultrasound temperature on the total flavonoid extraction from lotus seeds. Based on survey on factors affecting extraction conditions by the ultrasound bath method, all five surveyed factors were found to have strong influences on total flavonoid extraction process. From factorial design of experimental planning using surface response methodology (RSM), optimal conditions for extraction of total flavonoid from lotus seeds were found in extraction time (98.005 min); solvent concentration ethanol (86.160 %), pH solvent ethanol (4.546), bath ultrasound temperature (22.210&deg;C) and solvent/material ratio (8.376 (v/w)). Under above optimum conditions, total extracted flavonoids was 0.812 (mg Catechin/g extract). Experimental results showed a high compatibility with estimated RSM model. Total flavonoid content obtained in the original liquid extract was 0.797 &plusmn; 0.011 (mg Catechin/g extract). The highest antioxidant activity was found to be from ethanol extract with IC50 value (0.058 &plusmn; 0.004 (&micro;g/mL), in comparison with IC50 of ascorbic acid, 0.002 &plusmn; 0.001 (&micro;g/mL). Moreover, 50 % of DPPH scavenging ability of liquid and condensed extract differed from each other.</div>
