<div>This is the first report of a freshwater crab (Naju crab) collected from the Korean peninsula. It was named after Naju city. The Naju crab was identified based on evidence of 2 mitochondrial DNA of 16S rDNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit1 (COI), supporting that the Naju crab belongs to the genus Geothelphusa. The variances of the nucleotide sequence of 16S rDNA are from 2.01% to 6.02% between the Naju crab and four G. dehaani isolates (AB290630, AB551391, AB187570, and AB535460, respectively). The variances of the nucleotide sequence of CO1 are from 2.58% to 7.96% between the Naju crab and four G. dehaani isolates (AB551393, AB187570, AB290648, and AB535491, respectively). The nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence (1515bp) of the Naju crab showed that its 5.8S nucleotide sequence was highly conserved to that of Sesarma spp, terrestrial crab endemic to the American continent. However, the nucleotide sequences of the ITS1 and the ITS2 are not found to be conserved in any species in the world.&nbsp;</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">Seed deterioration during storage is associated with various metabolic and chemical alterations that vary among genotypes in soybean. In the present study, five genotypes with good storability viz., kalitur, MACS 1416, EC 18761, CO1 and DSB21 and five genotypes with poor storability viz., JS 71-05, DS 228, MAUS 61, NRC 93 and DSB 24 were selected and evaluated for biochemical changes to identify the best donors for storability. Among the genotypes, all the poor storer genotypes showed faster accumulation of free amino acids, free fatty acids and malondialdehyde content as a result of oxidative stress. Poor storer genotypes also showed the increased lipoxygenase I &amp; II enzymes activity. All the good storer genotypes showed higher anti-oxidative enzymes activity causing slower lipid peroxidation. Among the good storers, kalitur showed favourable biochemical features for storability while MAUS-61 was identified as poor storer exhibiting less favourable biochemical features.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">Sesame is notable for its rich antioxidants and sesame oil is also familiar for its resistance to oxidation. The cultivation of sesame is usually restricted under abiotic stress conditions. Hence in order to study the performance of sesame genotypes to saline stress, an experiment was conducted &nbsp;to screen ten ruling varieties of sesame viz., CO1, SVR1, SVPR1, VRI 1, VRI 2, TMV 3, TMV 4, TMV 5, TMV 6 and TMV 7 at five different EC levels (EC 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5). &nbsp;Seedling observations namely, germination percentage, speed of germination, shoot length, root length and dry matter production were recorded. Among the genotypes, it was found that under higher saline conditions (EC5), VRI 1 recorded higher seedling length (2.0 cm), vigour index I (100) and vigour index II (1.15), whereas under normal condition, TMV 4 and CO 1 performed better. In general, there was a decrease in all the seedling parameters with increased levels of salinity. With STAR software, Multivariate analysis was done and on the basis of dendrogram, five clusters were formed and the cophenotic correlation co- efficient was found highest in Control (0.912) followed by EC 2 ( 0.829).</div>
