Genetic diversity studies for seed yield and its important components in 12 genotypes of onion revealed considerable variability among the fest material. The accessions were grouped into 4 clusters which included three solitary groups, i.e. Agrifound Light Red, Arka Pitamber and Arka Niketan. The highest intercluster distance (D 2=54.36) was noticed between cluster II (Agrifound Light Red) and IV (Arka Niketan). It was observed that genetic diversity was not parallel to geographic distribution. Agrifound Light Red was detected as the most protent open pollinated cultivar for seed production. Intercrossing between Agrifound Light Red and Arka Niketan was likely to produce recombinants with high seed yield potential besides high bulb yield.
