YIELD TRENDS IN IDCE-WHEAT SYSTEM AS INFLUENCED BYLONG-TERM FERTILIZER USE IN IRRIGATtDAGRO-ECOSYSTEMS
1Project Directorate for Cropping Systems Research,
Modipuram, Meerut - 250 110, India
ABSTRACT
A field trial was initiated during 1977 and continued till 1991–92 at 10 locations of AICRP on Cropping systems to assess the long term effect of fertilizer use on the yield trends in ricewheat system. Trend equations fitted in selected treatments viz., control, N120P0K0, N120P80K0 and N120P80K40 indicated that the rice yields declined after few years at R. S. Pura, Masodha, Varanasi, Navsari, Raipur and Rudror whereas wheat yield declined with linear, quadratic and cubic trends at R. S. Pura, Palampur, Masodha, Jabalpur and Varanasi. However, at other locations either yield showed increasing trend or remained static.
