GENETIC ANALYSIS OF GRAIN YIELD AND ITS COMPONENT TRAITS IN BREAD WHEAT UNDER RAINFED AND IRRIGATED CONDITIONS
1Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics,
C S K Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishavidalya, Palampur-176062, India
ABSTRACT
The present study revealed the inadequacy of both additive- dominance and digenic epistatic
models for all the traits except spikes/plant in majority of the crosses . Additive gene effects was
prevailed over dominance gene effects for 100- grain weight and grains/ spike, whereas reverse is
for spikes/plant, grain yield/plant and biological yield. Digenic interactions and duplicate type of
epistasis were also observed for these traits. Hybridization systems such as biparental mating and/
or diallel selective matings could be useful for improvement of these traits
