PERFORMANCE OF NEW ARBOREUM VARIETY AKA-8 IN RELATION TO SPACING AND FERTILIZER LEVELS
1Cotton Research Unit, Dr. Punjab Rao Deshmukh Krishi Vidijapeeth Akola- 444104 India
ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted during 2003-04 to 2005-06, to study the response of deshi
cotton variety AKA-8 to spacing and fertilizer levels. Three years pooled data indicated that the
seed cotton yield of deshi cotton variety (AKA-8) was significantly higher in closer spacing (60 x 15
cm) than wider spacing (60 x30 cm). However, the higher values of growth and yield parameters in
respect of dry matter accumulation, bolls plant-1
, and yield plant-1 were observed in wider spacing as
compared to closer spacing. Application of 100 per cent RDF ( 30:15:0 NPK kg ha-1) recorded
significantly higher seed cotton yield over control and application of 50 per cent RDF whereas
differences with 150 per cent RDF was not found significant. Increasing trend was observed in
growth parameters and yield attributs with increase in fertilizer levels.
