A pot experiment was conducted on french bean during the winter season of 2002-03 in the
research farm (wire house) department of Soil Science, College of Agriculture, C.A.U., Imphal to
study the response of French bean on the decomposed organic matter on growth and yield. Urban
waste is enriched with micro-organisms (Aspergillus niger, Trichoduma Viride, Azotobacter) and
Vermiculture (Endrillus sp.) The application of decomposed urban waste with total nitrogen 0.58% ,
1.9% available phosphorus 0.45%-0.67% and available potash 1.4%-1.8% increase the yield of
French bean to 228 gm/pot from 53 gm/pot. The response on growth and yield of french bean (228g/
pot) was recorded higher in the decomposed manure enrich with vermiculture. Aspergillus niger and
Azotobecter compared with enriched Trichoduma viride, (167.3 g/pot) rock phosphate, Aspergillus
niger and Azotobacter.
