Afield experiment was conducted during winter season of 2000 to study the effect of
maturity stages on seed yield and quality in three aster genotypes. The results indicated
that maximum capitulum diameter, capitulum weight, 1000 seed weight, seed weight
per capitula, seed germination rate of germination, root length, shoot length, seedling
dry weight and seedling vigour index were recorded in the seeds harvested at 42 days
after flowering (OAF). These parameters increased from 7 to 42 DAF then onwards
gradually decreased up to 56 OAF. Moisture content· in seeds gradually decreased from
7 to 56 OAF.
