The effect of inoculation of Azospirillum brasilense individually and in combination
with different levels of nitrogen on Oryza sativa L. was studied under sand culture
condition during autumn season of 2007 in Tripura. The results showed that individual
or combined effect of Azospirillum brasilense and nitrogen fertilizer both at high and
low levels has significantly increased the in vivo nitrate reductase activity, total protein
and chlorophyll content compared to control. These parameters were found enhanced
in plants supplemented with nitrogen fertilizers and inoculated with Azospirillum
brasilense.
