Background: Eclipta prostrate also recognized as Bhringaraja is an annual herbaceous plant, commonly known as king of hairs. It is an erect or prostrate, much branched, roughly hairy, annual, rooting at the nodes; the leaves are opposite, sessile and lanceolate belonging to family Asteraceae. This plant is a significant medicinal plant in the tropical and subtropical areas. It is broadly used in treating different diseases of skin, liver and stomach in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and other countries. 
 
Methods: The main aim of this work was to collect and analyze the available information on traditional uses, phytoconstituents and biological activities of E. prostrata. Eclipta prostrata L. methanol extract was evaluated for its phytochemical compounds, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and antibacterial activity.&nbsp; 
 
Result: Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, glycosides, steroids, glycoproteins and volatile oil the total saponin content was found to be 84.175 &plusmn; 0.575 in mg/g equivalent of diosgenin. The results of antioxidant activity measured by the FRAP method revealed stronger reducing power of the extract. Further antibacterial activity was observed against K. pneumoniae and S. aureus in potential of inhibiting the tested microorganisms. Crude methanolic extract of E. prostrate recorded a minimum inhibitory concentration of 2 mg/ml. The results of current study suggested that antioxidant activity and antibacterial activity could be due to polyphenols, however chiefly by various active compounds or substances present in the extract. Further isolation, characterization and identification of the potential phytochemical compound from crude extract needs to be addressed.

Exploration of&nbsp; Antibacterial and Antioxidant Potential of Eclipta prostrata Leaf Extract

Background: Tha Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) association previously known as VAM belongs to an ancient fungal group known as Glomeromycota. In this study five commonly used medicinal plants viz., Eclipta prostrata, Mentha arvensis, Elettaria cardamomum, Bacopa monneri and Mimosa pudica were investigated for AMF colonization in the form of arbuscules, vesicles and hyphae from their roots and their rhizospheric soil was isolated for AMF spores. Majorly two genera of AMF dominated the rhizospheric soil of the plants investigated which were Acaulospora and Glomus. Altogether 12 AMF spores were isolated from the rhizospheric environment of the plants&nbsp; and they belonged to six different genera of AMF. 
 
Methods: In this field-laboratory investigation during 2022-23, different localities of Banaras Hindu University was surveyed. 5 different plants were selected for investigation on the diversity and distribution of AMF colonisation found in their rhizospheric soil. 
 
Result: Our investigation on the diversity and distribution of AMF of few selected plants from BHU have allowed us to isolate and morphologically identify 12 different species of AMF from 6 different genera. The geographical distribution of the collected species was discussed. The present work will be a complementary contribution to the comprehensive study of the identification and utility of AMF in plant growth and sust.

Diversity and Distribution of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi&nbsp; in Selected Medicinal Plants

<div>Floral resources are abundant across the globe as it forms a key role in an ecological pyramid and enriched with a bunch of medicinal properties. Historical statue reveals various plants and its materials were used for treatments of different ailments and injuries and also used as nutraceuticals in humans and animals and also used for pest control in agriculture. The practice of using plants in aquaculture started in early 1990&rsquo;s for various purposes by traditional farmers. Of late, due to overuse of fertilizers, antibiotics and other chemicals in aquaculture that created the environmental issues. As an alternative to chemicals and drugs, herbal based products can be used for eco and green aquaculture for safe and healthy fish productions. There are many potential herbal plants that have been identified and used in aquaculture and we focused on a few highly important herbal plants used in aquaculture. The potential herbal plants such as Aloe vera, Phyllanthus niruri, Azardirachta indica, Curcuma longa, Allium sativum, Ocimum sanctum, Zingiber officinale, Eclipta alba, Cissus quadrangularis, Acalypha indica could be used in fish farming. These herbal plants have versatile medicinal and therapeutic properties in fish, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant and immuno-stimulant. This review article gives information about the application of herbal plants in Aquaculture as a sustainable solution for safe and healthy fish productions.</div>
