<div>A major prerequisite for the successful growth of aquaculture is the ability to properly manage sexual maturation and spawning, as well as the production of huge numbers of high-quality seeds. One of the most critical variables impacting a cultured organism&rsquo;s ability to reach its genetic potential for growth and reproduction is proper nutrition. Broodstock diet has long been known to affect fecundity, fertilisation rate, egg quality, embryo development and larval quality, as well as hatchery success. Optimal broodstock management strategies based on a thorough understanding of the nutritional and environmental needs of fishes bred in captivity. Many factors influence fish growth, gonad development and reproduction. Protein, lipids, minerals, vitamins and carotenoids are among these factors. Not only has improved broodstock nutrition and feeding been demonstrated to improve egg and sperm quality, but it has also been shown to improve seed yield. As a result, over the last two decades, increased emphasis has been placed on the levels of various nutrients in broodstock diets. Broodstock nutrition research, on the other hand, is scarce and relatively expensive to do.</div>


<p>Role of Broodstock Nutrition and its Impacts on Fish Reproductive Output: An Overview</p>


<div style="text-align: justify;">Crayfish, commonly known as freshwater lobster, have been scientifically distributed in three genuses, which are as follows: - Cumberfish, Oronectes and Phalisaberus. Crayfish breeding and rearing techniques in China and some Adapted and practiced in South-East Asian countries. The proper ratio of broodstock female and male is 3: 1. Adult males are comparatively larger than females. The mating season of crayfish is usually from May to September. Larvae are stored in cultured ponds. Crayfish are cultivated in paddy fields with carp fish or eel fish in lotus and polyculture. The size of crayfish transported to the market is 20&ndash;60h in a period of 3 to 7 months, and is sold alive in most markets. Productivity varies from 750h to 3,000h per ha depending on the type of farming. It is possible that the farmer can earn up to 7000 to 14,000 rupees per day.</div>

Crayfish: A Culture Species for Freshwater Bodies

<div><strong>Background:</strong> Striped snakehead (<em>Channa striata</em>) is an air breathing fish with immense popularity as food. Successful breeding operation of this fish requires proper broodstock management and development of mass seed production technique. As spawning efficiency vary with species traits, climatic conditions and inducing agents for spawning, therefore, an experiment on the efficacy of two commercial GnRH based synthetic hormones viz., Gonopro-FH and OVAFISH on the induced breeding of Channa striata in captivity was conducted under agro-climatic conditions of Assam.&nbsp;<br />

<strong>Methods:</strong> Three doses of Gonopro-FH and Ovafish i.e. 0.40 (T1), 0.60 (T2) and 0.80 (T3) ml/kg for female and 0.3, 0.45 and 0.60 ml/kg body weight for male were administered to evaluate the efficacy.&nbsp;<br />

<br />
<strong>Result:</strong> Breeding aspects such as relative fecundity, fertilization rate, hatching rate, latency period and incubation period were found better with the dose of 0.45 ml/kg for male and 0.6 ml/kg for female. A higher relative fecundity was achieved by Gonopro FH administration. The results of this study may be useful in induce breeding and seed production of Channa striata.</div>
