Four females and twelve pollen parents, their for* hybrids and F2 generations were studied and the data were analysed according to Jink and Jones (1958). χ2-value was nonsignificant for all the seven characters. It inqicated that heterosis and epistasis were independent of each other. Anyone or both parameters can be exploited for the improvement of yield and its components in pigeonpea.
