Two year experiments were conducted with 71 and 35 hybrids and three checks in randomized block design. The experiments were replicate twice in 1995–96 and 199697 along with ratoon crop in the subsequent crop seasons. Ratoon crop was maintained by cutting the fruiting zone at the harvest time with the help of scythe and the standing portion was left in the field for regrowth. The highest grain yield 2314 kg and 3981 kg hal was recorded in the main crop from the hybrid NDPH 94–20 and RAUPH 9507, respectively. In case of ratoon crop, the highest grain yield 1413 kg and 1300 kg ha−1 was recorded from the hybrid genotypes RAUPH 9001 and RAUPH 9501 while the check variety "Bahar" produced 1326 kg and 1285 kg ha−1, respectively.
