An experiment was conducted during 1997–98 with three promising blackgram varieties for evaluating the yield perfonnance in relation to growth parameters at Barimash, Among the three varieties Barimash-1 gave the seed yield (1601.0 kg/ha) and the lowest by Barimash-3 (1455.00 kg/ha). All the varieties showed the maximum leaf area index at 52 DAE, total dry, matter per unit area at 66 DAE and crop growth rate at 59 DAE. Relative growth rate and net assimilation rate were maximum at 31 DAE. But among the three varieties Barimash-1 showed the maximum leaf area indices (4.42), crop growth rate (0.2269 g/m2/day), relative growth rate (13.057 g/g/day), net assimilation rate and total dry matter 303.84 g/m2.
