An investigation was undertaken to study the effect of three starter doses of nitrogen (0, 15 and 30 kg N ha−1) on three varieties of chickpea (Radhey, Avarodhi and K 850). Number of nodules increased upto 60 DAS and thereafter decreased with lowest at 120 DAS. Significantly highest nodules were found in variety K-850 from 30 kg N ha−1, 15 kg N ha−1 produced significant by maximum seed yield from variety K-850. A significant highest nitrogen-uptake was obtained in variety K-850 at 30 kg N ha−1
