The nature of gene action for six traits of pea (Pisum sativum L.) was studied in 10 x 10 diallel cross in the FI generation. Presence of partial dominance for 100 seed weight and harvest index and over dominance for primary branches/plant and seeds/pod was indicated. High narrow sense heritability was observed for 100 seed weight. Asymmetrical distribution of negative and positive alleles was noticed. The number of genes controlling inheritance of the traits was established.
