Stability of five urdbean (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) genotypes viz., VBG 17, VBG 23, AB 2045. Vamban 2 and CO 5 was studied in six environments by five methods. The two components of G x E interaction i.e., genotype x environment (linear) and pooled deviation were significant against pooled error indicating differences among the genotypes for linear arid non linear responses to environment. The study also revealed the ponderance of non-linear component as compared to the linear component for seed yield. The genotype AB 2045 showed stability with average responsiveness to environment for seed yield. Based on stability factor and genotype grouping technique, VBG 17 and CO 5 showed stability. Considering the stability in various methods, high mean seed yield and resistance to yellow. mosaic disease, the genotype VBG 17 was chosen as best genotype.
