The D2 analysis was employed to cluster the eight parents and twenty eight hybrids obtained by 8 x 8 DiaUel mating system in cowpea. The clustering was conducted for the two locations and at both the locations six clusters were constituted but the constitution differed with locations. D2 clustering was conducted to assess the relation between the genetic divergence and heterotic expression. The hybrids produced by selection of parents based on ~2 clustering showed high heterotic effects.
