A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 1998–99 and 1999–2000 to find out the effect of Rhizobium treatment on nodulation and yield of broadbean (Vicia faba L.) under different levels of nitrogen. The study revealed, that seed inoculation of Rhizobium @ 30 g/kg seed along with 30 kg N/ha as basaI application produced the highest number of nodules per piant. The treatment also recorded maximum number of pods per plant (14.78) and seed yield (22.18 q/ha) but failed to produce any significant influence on the number of seeds per pod and 100 seed weight. This treatment was also proved profitable with highest cost benefit ratio (1: 4.39).
