CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS FOR YIELD AND ITS ATTRIBUTING TRAITS IN WHITE COATED PIGEONPEA [CAJANUS CAJAN (L.) MILL SP]
1Agricultural Research Station, Tandur, Ranga Reddy
Distt. Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, (A.P.) India
ABSTRACT
An investigation was carried out in pigeon pea to understand the association among the yield
components and their direct and indirect effects on the seed yield. Character association studies
indicated that number of pods, secondary branches and primary branches per plant and plant
spread showed significantly positive correlation with seed yield at genotypic and phenotypic
levels. Path coefficient analysis revealed that number of pods, secondary branches and primary
branches per plant were the most important character which can be strategically used to improve
yield in Pigeon pea
