GENETICS OF PREHARVEST SPROUTING TOLERANCE IN WHITE KERNELLED T. DURUM WHEAT
1Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding
Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi - 221 005, India
ABSTRACT
Four T. durum wheat varieties (one each from highly tolerant and susceptible; and two from moderately resistant group) and their F1's were raised to study the genetics of preharvest sprouting through diallel analysis. Reciprocal F1's were also generated in three crosses to determine the role of cytoplasm in sprouting. The analysis showed the significant role of additive component. Cytoplasmic effect was found in all the three crosses studied indicating the influence of cytoplasmic genes.
