Six-generations namely P 1, P 2, F 1, F 2, B 1 and B 2 were build up in five crosses which involved T 6 as a common male parent viz., TMV 6 x T6, VRI-1 x T6, TMV 5 x T6, Annamalai x T6 and TMV 3 x T6 and partitioning of means were undertaken. Observations were recorded on nine important quantitative characters. The study revealed that the inheritance of the yield and yield component characters were predominantly under the control of dominance gene effects, while additive gene effects and all the three kinds of epistatic interactions along with duplicate type played an important role.
