Estimates of heterosis and inbreeding depression were obtained for 21 groundnut crosses. Manifestation of heterosis was of higher order for pod yield, shoot biomass, mature pod number per plant and root dry mass. Highest inbreeding depression was observed for pod yield followed by root dry mass and shoot biomass. Several crosses exhibtted heterosis for pod yield and other physiological attributes. Cross ICG V 86031 × TG 26 for pod yield, root dry mass and harvest index; crosses TAG 24 × JL 24 and Tirupati 1 × TMV 2-NLM for pod yield and shoot biomass were identified for further exploitation.
