PERFORMANCE OF DICLOFOP-METHYL TO CONTROL WEEDS IN WHEAT (TRITICUM AESTIVUM) UNDER DIFFERENT IRRIGATION LEVELS
1Department of Agronomy,
CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar - 125 004, India
ABSTRACT
A field study was carried out during winter seasons of 1994-95 and 1995-96 for evaluating diclofop-methyl against complex weed flora in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grown under different irrigation frequencies. Significant and consistence increase in dry matter production of weeds was recorded with application of one, three and six irrigations. Yield attributes and yield of wheat were significantly more with six irrigations compared to one and three irrigations. The post-emergence application of diclofop-methyl (0.75-1.25 kg/ha) significantly reduced the dry matter production of grassy weeds only, while those of broad leaf weeds were not affected compared to weedy check during both the year. An increase of 22.1, 29.4 and 26.8 percent in wheat yield with the use of 0.75, 1.0 and 1.25 kg/ha diclofop-methyl respectively, over the control was noticed in pooled analysis
