STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF SAPOTA (ACHRAS SAPOTA L.) CV. CRICKET BALL
1Department of Horticulture,
Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur - 492 006, India
ABSTRACT
The Cycocel (0, 200 and 400 ppm) sprayed at FBD stage, superimposed with sprays of GA 50
ppm and NAA 100 ppm at different fruit developmental stage to promote flowering in sapota cv.
Cricket Ball. Amongst plant growth characters, the shoot length was reduced significantly by the
application of CCC 400 ppm at FBD stage. While, number of leaves and leaf area was found to be
increased. NAA 100 ppm applied at flowering stage also increased the shoot length, number of leaves
and leaf area followed by GA 50 ppm and control. NAA 100 ppm sprayed at pea stage recorded
increased shoot length, more number of leaves and leaf area than applied at lag phase. The application
of CCC @ 400 ppm applied at FBD stage produced significantly more number of fruits as well as yield/
tree. Physical characters of fruits viz., length, diameter and weight of fruit were also increased
considerably with the same treatment.
