Recommondation Information of Desi Variety Pant Chana-5 for Late Sowing
A considerable growth in the productivity of pulses is seen for last few years. The growth is a result of development in technologies used for better and disease resistant varieties, United Nations lays special emphasis on pulses production and quality and has declared 2016-17 as international pulse year. As a result of it maximum production of pulses is 22.14 million ton and maximum production of gram is registered upto 9.12 million ton. But even then this is comparatively less than the demand for pulses in the country. Scientist are of opinion that production of gram can be increased by using progressive and updated varieties of gram available in our country. It is proved that by researches and demonstrations the increase upto 35% is possible by using improved seeds. Therefore new specy Pant Chana-5 is developed to avail farmers and to increase productivity of gram by Govind Ballav Pant Agricultural University.
