Background: Double tuberose, a form of Polianthes tuberosa (syn. Agave amica), is a high value ornamental crop widely used in the cut flower industry. Popular cultivars such as Suvasini, Vaivab, Hyderabad Double, Calcutta Double and Pearl Double are mainly grown for the cut flower production. The information on recommendations of the suitable double tuberose varieties under local climatic scenario of Odisha is meager. Suitability and adaptation of diversified tuberose genotypes under humid environmental conditions of eastern coastal plains of Odisha are to be validated for their superior performance. Again, tuberose plants compete with weeds for nutrients, moisture, light and space, reducing their productivity. Mulching, particularly with black polyethylene mulch is an effective agronomic practice that suppresses weed growth and modifies the soil microclimate by conserving moisture and regulating temperature. This may lead to improved plant growth, nutrient uptake, overall productivity and quality of tuberose.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: A study was executed to assess the performances of some double tuberose varieties as influenced by mulching which was implemented in a Factorial RBD with two factors-Mulching and Varieties with three replications. 
 
Result: Results showed significant variation among the mulching treatment and varieties with respect to various vegetative and flowering parameteres. Varieties like Vaivab (V5) and Suvasini (V3) with black polythene mulch showed notable results with respect to both quality and yield, which can be recommended to the farmers of Eastern Coastal Plains of Odisha.
