Cite article:- N. Manivannan (2024). PERFORMANCE OF EIGHT F3 POPULATIONS IN GREENGRAM [VIGNA RADIATA (L.) WILCZEK]. Legume Research. 25(1): . doi: .
Eight crosses of greengram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] in F3 generations involving KM 2 and Vamban 1 as ovule parents and MGG 319, TARM 1, ML 267, ML 131 and Co 3 as pollen parents were evaluated. Mean variability parameters namely coefficients of variation, skewness and kurtosis and the percentage of desirable plants recording more than mean + 2 S:E. were calculated to ascertain the performance of cross. Among the eight crosses, KM 2 x ML 131 showed superiority for all the characters. Since, the nature of distribution of plants are leptokurtic nature for pods and seed yield, early stage of yield trial is suggested in greengram.
