Studies were made to trace the influence of seed source on seed size distribution and seed
and seedling quality variation with samples of tamarind collected from eighteen locations of
Tamil Nadu. The results revealed that seed size and seed and seedling quality characters were
related to each other. Among the seed sources, seeds collected from Coimbatore (Western zone),
Nagerkoil and Peechiparai (High rainfall zone) were bolder in size and higher in their seed quality
characters. The distribution of medium sized seeds (6.3mm) was higher within the selected
locations of Tamil Nadu.
