The study was conducted on sorghum variety HJ 513 to know the effect of seed invigoration on seed quality and storability of sorghum seeds in Department of Seed Science & Technology, CCS HAU, Hisar during 2016-17. All the treatments studied enhanced the seed quality parameters except the seed treated with castor oil, neem oil and sesame oil. Negative effect of these oils was observed on the seed quality parameters. Maximum germination (78.00%) was observed in the seeds treated with KNO3 (1%) followed by the seeds treated with K2HPO4 (2%) (75.67%) while minimum was recorded in the seed treated with sesame oil (16.33%) followed by seeds treated with castor oil (39.00%) after 12 months of storage. Same trend was also observed in other seed quality parameters also. No insect infestation was observed in any treatment during storage. It has been concluded from the study that germination of sorghum seeds can be maintained above IMSCS (75%) upto one year by treating the seed with KNO3 (1%) and K2HPO4 (2%) and never treat the seeds with castor, neem and sesame (til) oil as these oils adversly affect the germination.
