RESPONSE OF JATROPHA CURCAS L. SEEDS TO DIFFERENT STORAGE TEMPERATURES AND STORAGE CONTAINERS

Seeds of Jatropha curcas L. were stored in different storage containers i.e. muslin cloth bags, plastic bags, gunny bags under three different temperatures Viz. at room temperatures (26.33 OC), 20OC and  10O C. Initially the data were recorded after one month of storage i.e. in February 2008 and thereafter; the germination per cent, viability per cent and moisture content were recorded at 3rd ,6th ,9th , and 12th  months of storage duration. The seeds stored at temperature 10oC  in plastic bag significantly influenced the germination percentage, viability per cent and moisture content of Jatropha seeds even after 12 month storage period which was followed by  20oC in muslin cloth bag and at room temperature in gunny bags.
