An editor is the most important person in the process of journal publishing. He is responsible for taking care of all the minor intricacies and other important factors to enhance a journal. He also holds the responsibility towards an author and other members to assist them in forming an article.
Plus, he makes sure whether the appropriate papers for the journal have been submitted or there is a requirement for an additional manuscript from the author.
In case an extra manuscript is needed for the journal, he helps the author with the same. The main job of the editor is to introduce his best knowledge to a particular field of publishing while also striking a proper balance among other important factors of the journal.
Therefore, ARCC journals give importance to the role of editors as it is the only method of ensuring the quality of the journal by making fruitful relations with author, reviewers and adhere to high value responsibilities towards Editorial Board Members.
In this step, the papers go under some serious scrutinizing at the time of their submission. It is determined whether the findings of the scientific works are suitable and sufficient for publishing a journal or not. Then the editor checks again for any errors in the intellectual property.
Therefore, it’s mandatory to determine that the content of the manuscripts has an appropriate table, a proper structure, figures, and sufficient references in a professional manner.
The contents of the paper that need to be presented in the journal are cross-checked with the accurate guidelines of the journal. These guidelines are then strictly followed for a world-class publication. In short, it is made sure that the articles aren’t rejected at the time of their publication.
At ARCC, the editors are also given the responsibility to send the manuscript to available peer-reviewers. Once the editors makes sure that the papers or the manuscripts have all the necessary details, high-quality content, and proper formatting, the real process of the peer-review begins.
The submitted papers/manuscripts by the author are then sent to the peer reviewers. Now the important task is to find and appoint experienced peers for this process. ARCC have an expertise panel of more than 5000 professionals from all over the world in various subjects.
Also, skilled experts are given the job of reviewing the articles in a timely and proper manner so that they can give their unbiased and valued feedback. The journal editors must utilize their potential for proper reviewing as it is an indispensable part of the publication process.
The editor demands the reports of the papers from the expert reviewers. Once they are submitted, the editor makes a proper assessment to determine whether the documents formed by the author include accurate scholarly studies or not.
If the need arises, he can also ask the reviewers for further help on the information he got from them.
Some more responsibilities of Editor towards Peer-Reviewers
Now coming to the Responsibility towards the Author
ARCC editors has to make sure several developments in the domain of publishing including the reviews, suggestions, and changes advised by the peers. The prime concern of the editor is the secrecy of the documents and the reviewers aren’t permitted to misuse the works of the author.
Our editors need to determine that no part of the content is misused by the co-experts also. The knowledge and experience acquired by the reviewers must be in safe hands and all reviewers must discourage its disclosure.
An Editor:
Well, the editor needs to make sure that there isn’t any conflict in authorship. The criteria of the authorship whether it is individual or a group must also be identified. It needs to be cross-checked with the content submitted by the individual or the group authorship.
The authors need to acknowledge that the papers or manuscripts they hold meet the standards of the editor’s knowledge. It is also expected from the authors to review and sign the content they have submitted as a final draft. A lot of times the authors are also responsible for the complete final article.
There must be a properly specified reference for the readers to have discourse with the author in case they want to acquire further knowledge from them.
