A field experiment was conducted during 1990-91 and 1991-92 on clay loam soils to
study the performance of rainfed wheat varieties under different dates of sowing. The results
revealed that rainfed wheat cv., A. 9-30-1 was at par with Sujata and significantly superior to
HI-1277 and GW-I034 in respect of grain and straw yields. October 15 was found to be
optimum time of sowing for all the varieties. The yields markedly reduced under both early and
delayed sowing conditions.
