Cite article:- Battan- K.R., Singh Dalvir, Yadav D.K. (2024). ASSESSMENT OF BARLEY GENOTYPES AS MAINTAINERS AND FERTILITY~RESTORERS. Agricultural Science Digest. 20(3): 185-186. doi: .
Among the hybrids developed using male sterile line msml, three pollen parents BH
75, BH 85 and Bonlra 10 were found good fertility restorers as the per cent seed set in the
hybrids produced by these pollen parents was 86.03,88.98 and 80.90 and 20 pollen parents
were observed to be maintainers as the per cent seed set ranged from 0.00 to 0.55. Among the
30 pollen parents used to produce the hybrids with msm2 male sterile line, eight pollen parents
viz. BH 75, BH 85, BH 326, DL 100, ICARDA 105, PL 424, Bonlra 10 and UBE 380 restored
more than 90 per cent fertility genes and ten parents maintained sterility. Thus these male sterility
genes present in male sterile lines msml and msm2 can be transferred in maintainer lines to
develop desirable male sterile lines.
