PERFORMANCE OF ISABGOL (PlANTAGO OVATA FORSK.) AfTER THE'HARVEST OF SHORT DURATION KHARIF LEGUME CROPS

ABSTRACT
The field experiments for three sua:esslve years were conducted during kharifand
rabl seasons of 1996-97, 1997-98 aDd 1998-99 to test the feaslbiUty of growing Isabgol
(PllmtllgO ov.ta) after harvest short duration kharif legwne aops for good monetary return.
The highest seed yield (992 ks/ha) of lsabgol was obtained In the plots where groundnut was
grown In kharif season. The maximum monetary return (Ra. 67000/ha) was also obtained In
groundnut (kh.rn, + Isabgol (,..61) aopplng system. However, It was at par with the soyabean
(khariII+isabgol (,..61) and plgeonpea (khlll'ill + isabgol (r.61).
