The effect of shade and direction of the fruits on the trees on the fruit quality
parameters were studied. Significantly more fruit breadth was recorded in partial shaded
trees than complete shaded trees. Fruits taken from the central direction on the trees showed
significantly more size and weight than those observed in the fruits taken from the other
directions. The trees situated in the complete shade showed the maximum juice content on
juice percentage, T.S.S, Vitamin 'C'. Thus shading by wind breaks does not adversely affect
the fruit quality of Nagpur mandarin trees.
