High heterosis over better parents was recorded in 90 hybrids derived from 10 x 10 diallel for yield and its components in maize. The hybrids exhibited maximum heterosis for grain yield per plant followed by cob weight and number of grain rows per cob. The highest value of heterosis over better parent (97.45%) was recorded for grain yield per plant in the cross Prabhat - 1 x UMI 492
