1Department of Vegetable Science.
HPKV, Palampur . 176062, India
ABSTRACT
An Investigation was undertaken on Radish var. Mino Early white long during the summer 1997 and 1998 in sandy loam soil with nine treatments comprising three sources of Bio-fertilizer i.e. (B 1-Farm Yard Manure + Dense organic manure; B 2-Biofertilizer + Dense organic manure; B 3-chemical fertilizers) and three sources of Bio-pesticides i.e. (P 1-Neemax, P 2-Garlic extract and P 3-Chemical pesticide, Endosulfan) with three replications. The treatments having farm yard manure + dense organic manure gave higher yield, higher protein with prolonged shelf-life under ambient storage conditions, than that of other included treatments. However, nitrate content which caused health hazards was low in treatment heving bio-fertilizer + dense organic manure and similar treatment was also rich in vitamin C content. Neemax, a bio-pesticide controlled the leaf beetle effectively as compared to endosulfan a chemical pesticide.
