Studies on the effect of different dates of sowing of two cultivars of chickpea viz., 10th, 20th, 30th October and 10th and 20th November on the incidence of Helicoverpa armigera was made during the years 1999 and 2000. Both the cultivas of chickpea showed similar pattern of infestation under all the dates of sowing during both the years. The later sown crop of chickpea suffered most from the H armigera and yielded less than earlier sown crop.
