An analysis was made with the available weather data, sugar recovery and pol% in cane at Bajaj Hindustan Ltd., Gola, to find out the impact of climatic factors on cane quality during crushing season 1997–98 and 1998–99. The heavy rainfall during August disturbed the uptake of nutrients by roots and in the month of September and October delayed the maturity of cane.
